GENERAL ANALYSIS
PLOT ELEMENTS AND LYRIC MATCH
After reading and analyzing the lyrics of the songs, create a plot diagram using the songs to match to the major events from the novel. If there is not a song for the event, you and your group are to find the lyrics for the event in question. Using Prezi or Glogster, create a plot diagram that combines the music lyrics with the book events.

DOODLE NOTES
Doodle notes is an alternative way to take notes about fiction and non-fiction selections by tapping into the innate desire for students to doodle when they are supposed to be taking notes
As students progress through a selection, they are to doodle pictures and take notes about different literary aspects of what they are reading that is important. The students are to focus on the following literary elements when taking Doodle Notes:
Doodle Notes can be taken chapter by chapter or as a novel as a whole when studying books. The Doodle Notes can morph into any form that would allow the students to connect with the texts. |
OTHER ANALYSIS MATERIALS
One of my favorite resources for tests in the various state assessment formats, AP, or SAT is Applied Practice. I use this assessments with other selections in my classroom with great success and find them challenging yet attainable for the students. I tend to use the AP formatted assessment as reading comprehension quizzes and the SAT formatted test as a summative assessment with my Pre-AP students. For academic students, I would suggest removing an answer choice from the previously mentioned materials then using the state formatted tests as the summative assessment for the selection.
